Democracy and Freedom

Thu 06/20/13 10:56 AM. Democracy isn’t free. It’s a system for electing government officials, almost all of whom are demagogues more or less. Our freedom is not guaranteed by this poll of the stupidest. Democracy is simply a better system for picking a demagogue than armed strife; even the stupid feel this way, and when the time comes that they don’t, then we will have the leftists’ beloved dystopias.

Giant greedy multinational corporations are today’s bulwark of freedom. As were the local states at America’s beginning, or the parliament/king conflict in Britain. The only thing that stops democratically-elected demagogues from stealing everything is opposing strong forces.

And incidentally, the constitution is just a piece of paper. It doesn’t guarantee anything. Force makes things happen, or not.
