Limbaugh for Obama

Tue 12/23/2008 2:58 pm. No one’s stepped forward, so let me do the honors:

You toiled as hard as anyone to convince Republicans to sit on their hands, running those merciless McCain funny songs all through and after the election, making it clear with your ceaseless barrage of winks, nods, and outright cries of despair that you despised McCain, and your bottomless sour-grapes sore-loser grudge against Republican primary voters for daring to vote for McCain after you told them not to — although as far as I can remember, you never actually suggested someone else. ... You just made it clear McCain was a sneaky low-life, and he should lose. When he didn’t, the Republicans’ fate was settled, at least as far as you were concerned, and you were clearly responsible for at least a point or so of Barack’s 4 point landslide....

It is a game, stupid!

I hasten to add that as far as I’m concerned, McCain is a socialist Republican, or to use something I first heard about Indira Ghandi, “slightly to the right of self-interest”. ... But I also know it’s childish to expect a political candidate to be a holy little avatar embodying one’s most sacred beliefs; in a bourgeois democracy — and that’s what we got here, if we can keep it — it’s stupid to shriek “he tricked me” because he has to trick somebody to get elected! ... Nobody can actually represent the hopes and dreams of all the people in the majority, so someone’s going to be disappointed, and it might as well be you....

On the other hand, even ’though as an ethnic communist I despise sports, I have heard and approve of the “team player” concept: despite George Washington’s innocent hopes, government doesn’t get anywhere with disinterest, and the best we can hope for is party affiliation that isn’t too despicable....

If that’s too depressing, OK, don’t vote. ... But don’t get on the radio and tell me how stupid I am for voting for the least-objectionable candidate — which is all we’ll ever get! ... And try to remember, there is an all-too readily-available alternative: tyranny....

The Days of Radio

I listen to the local NYC commie classical music station WQXR, the “Station of the New York Times” as they used to piously intone although I don’t think they do anymore. ... For the hourly catastrophe alert, après the election they dumped “New York Times Radio News” for the presumably cheaper (!) Bloomberg but it’s still standard commie tripe if a little less imaginative then the home-grown fodder: the world is still ending, everything still stinks, there’s always a huge threatening crisis, the sky is always falling. ... Even after the election! ... Because Obama / the Democrats need a free hand! ... So we can establish Stalinism now! ...

So for years it’s been my innocent custom to put-up with a few of these news shows and then gratefully switch to Rush Limbaugh at noon (usually rounding out the day’s merriment with Radio Dismuke).

But since sometime in Bush’s second term, Limbaugh’s been converging on the commie rendition, and now they’re exactly the same except for a few minor details: for Gaia’s wrath + disobedience to the wise UN + fascist suppression of unions and tax & spend programs, substitute Obama Democrats taking over and ruling forever and ever, stealing every election here on out, world without end. ... Otherwise, it sounds eerily identical. ... Except of course QXR occasionally plays beautiful music....

Entertainment or Abuse?

I wish all these Liberals who claim “Limbaugh is just an entertainer” would get on the stick and get him back on track! ... Some of the “funny” songs have been playing for decades, and the internet feed is constantly falling over; I gave-up on the video long ago, but even the pitiful realplayer junk can’t get through a show....

Audience abuse has long been a feature, but it’s getting ridiculous! ... It’s an endless rant at us for voting for Obama, deriding us for believing all this socialist smoke, and describing all the horrible things that are infallibly to come as the socialists take over and destroy everything because we were so stupid!...

Limbaugh has strange powers, and the outcome of this strategery may well be the election of a conservative congress and/or president — but I’m going to have trouble putting-up with it while this apparently sadomasochistic process works its way through the years....
