11/15/10. One of the great unifying assumptions of progressive thought
has been that of simplification,
that heroic progressive thinkers would sweep aside the cobwebs of
superstition and religious hocus pocus, revealing a brand-new day of
simple logical organization and reason. This was the dream of Dewey the
Educator; Marx demonstrated the scientific basis of economics; and the
Holy Darwin pulled-aside the curtain of magic and mystery to show how
our very lives evolved. ... Liberal progressive thought was to apply
Occams Razor — that which
is simplest, is true — to all creation, and mankind would
at last be free of cant and confusion....
Sadly,
there have been some problems with this scheme. Which the liberal
class, with the fervent dogmatism of true believers, denies.
But
even Stephen Hawking conceded recently that particle physics may never
find a theory of everything! This was apparent to all us ignorami
who
observed the endless parade of new subatomic particles and the
seemingly-magical implications of modern physics, but now its
official; physics will probably throw-up various significant and valid
aka true stories, but in separated not-necessarily working-together
domains. It turns out, apparently, that like everything else we know in
our actual lives, physics will have to make do with
inconsistencies and compromise....
Indeed, the Holy Darwin was
aware of problems with the evolution of complex structures, i.e. the
eye, but assumed the future would tell, would provide the inevitable
simplifying cobweb-blowing-away crystal clear obvious answers. Sadly
that didnt happen, and the despised-by-liberals Darwins
Black Box
book recounts in addition many amazing biochemical processes which
obviously defy the simple step-by-step process of evolutionary theory.
So Liberals cursed it, and ignored it, and forgot it. It will be
spoken-of no more....
And Deweys progressive education movement has sunk to a union thuggery bent on perqs and pay and racism, doing their uttermost to preserve a dependent poverty class in the great cities. ... To be sure, they still teach communism to all who will listen; but few do.
The very encyclopedias were founded, and foundered, on the dream of the totality of knowledge nailed down by smart progressive thinkers. But they couldnt, and it wasnt, and it turns-out the universe is much bigger than any of us, so very very big, that stuff goes on well probably never figure-out. ... Who knew?!?!
