The Pain of the Election Lottery

Mon 6/29/20 9:28 am. It’s all perfectly obvious, but still I forget, particularly in the time of covid, the only politically-opinionated virus in history. ... I must ignore the screaming politicians — especially the ones on my side. ... ’Cause they just want my money, the sneaky connivers. ... To get it, they must make me anxious. And, pitifully, they do.

It’s my right-wing fascist-toad opinion that burning down walmarts in the aid of racial justice. a democrat party “white lives stink” electioneering effort, is stupid. ... But never mind! The fact is, we right-wing toads lived happily through 8 years of the Holy Obama and, in fact, in a nice rich bourgeois democracy like the U.S., it doesn’t make that much difference, even when they scream for permanent walmart-burning. ... Although of course the commies democrats would like the permanent arrangement, it probably won’t happen.

And who has more certainty in this vale of tears? ... Nowadays, it looks like the kindly Mayor Deblasio is attempting to burn down Nueva York — another dubious electioneering tactic — and he’ll probably make some progress, and maybe the pitiful nyer communists’ll have to elect a republican — again! — to stop it, but NY’s been approaching armpit status all my life, long before I migrated to paradise....

The important thing is to ignore the screaming and go on serenely collecting adorable silly cameras or snuff boxes or guitars or telescopes or stupid toys or whatever. ... And my individual vote really doesn’t make a difference, or even my pitiful donations — unless it’s a very local race, or I was dealing in Bezos-level bribes, perish the thought....
